Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis Brings Holiday Cheers to Almost 90 Youth |
On Saturday, December 6th volunteers from the Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis Club and around 90 children from various nonprofit agencies spend the morning at the Building for Kids having breakfast, meeting Santa, (who had presents for them) and playing in the museum.

The 2013-2014 Kiwanis year was another outstanding year for the Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis service club and celebrated the year at their recognition breakfast on September 26th at the Grand Meridian in Appleton. The Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis Club provided over 2,800 hours of service to the community during the Kiwanis calendar year. |

The coffee can collection was initially a rain out at Horizons school. That, however, did not dampen the volunteer spirit of our young second grade friends at Horizons. We were able to reschedule last week and provide the Salvation Army ...with a load of coffee for their meal program.

At a recent club meeting, the Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis Club presented a check to John Mendoza who visited our meeting as a representative from the Community Clothes Closet. Our donation will help continue the mission of the Fox Valley non-profit. One of our longstanding service project partnerships, the Community Clothes Closet distributes over 25,000 items of clothing each month to needy families in the area.

Indoor service projects in January are hard to find but our club had a chance once again this year to support the Habitat Restore.
We will be working with the Habitat Restore on a variety of projects, merchandising of the sales floor or other small items that are needed. This is a great indoor project.

We all know that the holiday season is a busy time for Santa. As one of its December service projects, the AKtion Club of the Fox Cities wrapped 60 gifts for Santa during one of our regular club meetings. The Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis Club, one of the sponsoring Kiwanis Clubs of the AKtion Club, gave out the gifts on December 4th during their breakfast with Santa at the Building for Kids, our local children's museum.

The holiday season is fast approaching, and once again our club partnered with the Salvation Army to provide food baskets to some needy families in the Fox Cities. Thanks to Renee Waterman and Maria Van Lannen for doing the shopping this year.

On September 18th, members of the West Business Services sales teams took part in the sand sculpture contest at a fox cities event called Quarry Quest. Quarry Quest is a yearly event held in Neenah, WI.
Quarry Quest was created in 1999 by a team of community-minded organizations to help provide a better understanding of the construction and mining industries to the children of all ages while also raising funds for local charitable organizations. Involvement equals 250 businesses and nearly 1,000 volunteers. In ten years, the event has attracted 150,000 people and raised over $750,000 for charity. |
