RI President-elect John F. Germ's theme
RI President-elect John F. Germ unveiled the 2016-17 presidential theme, Rotary Serving Humanity, to incoming district governors on 18 January at the International Assembly in San Diego, California, USA.
“I believe everyone recognizes the opportunity to serve Rotary for what it truly is: not a small opportunity, but a great one; an opportunity of a lifetime to change the world for the better, forever through Rotary’s service to humanity,” said Germ.

Has your club recorded the names of its board members for 2016-17 on this, the D9370 ClubRunner web? For those clubs which have not yet done so, please be aware that this needs to be done as soon as possible.
Even if your club's new board is not yet finalised please, at the very least, record the names of your incoming President and Secretary.
Current club executives (Presidents, PEs, Secretaries, Treasurers and Executive Secretaries) are reminded that all such updating should now be done in this ClubRunner web, and no longer in the RI web - just the same as the regular updating of new, existing and past members.
Please bring this to your club President's and Secretary's attention - in case they don't see this notice.
Please note carefully when defining club executives - the item labelled "Title" does NOT mean you should enter "Mr", "Dr" "Mrs" etc as some clubs have mistakenly done. Instead, it refers to the member's title in the club. In many cases this will be exactly the same as the member's "Position" - that is "President", "Secretary" and so on, and should be entered as such. It is left to each club to enter whatever "Title" they wish to use for each board member. It is important for Club and District reporting purposes that these titles be meaningful.
Please check that your club has interpreted the term "Title" correctly and make any necessary changes. We will be discussing this ambiguity with ClubRunner and asking them to look into the matter.
For the benefit of those clubs who have not yet defined their boards for 2016-17, you may wish to utilise CR's special function "Carry over Executive and Director Positions to the Next Year" - to be found near the bottom of the Define Club Executives page. This will carry over only the current year's titles and positions, not the incumbents' names. The latter, together with any new positions, should then be entered.

The Rotarians of D9370 welcome
DG Tom McGhee and Mariana...
... we know that they each will ...
Attention D9370 AGs, Presidents and Secretaries.
Please note: Since we implemented ClubRunner in July 2013 it is essential that all changes to both club and membership data be made through ClubRunner - rather than through RI's My Rotary area. This includes the entry of new members as well as the termination of departing members.
Some club executives are STILL overlooking this vital point, resulting in discrepancies between RI's data and that of D9370.
Club Executives are reminded that apart from promptly maintaining their clubs' membership data through ClubRunner (see news item above), they should also start (or continue) making use of Rotary Club Central to simplify and record their planning, monitoring and achievement of goals.
- It's a one-stop shop.
- It eliminates paper.
- It fosters continuity in leadership.
- It enables clubs to track their progress.
- It creates transparency.
- It showcases the important work that Rotary does worldwide.
You'll find everything you need at Rotary's Brand Centre.
And you can even create your own Rotary club logo.
For the information of Club Secretaries.
When a club wishes to change a member's type from Active to Honorary, the club secretary (or other executive) needs to do two things:-
- In the member's profile in CR, change the "Membership Type" from Active to Honorary (in the profile's "Rotary" tab). This will keep your district records up to date for billing purposes.
- Because there is no integration between CR and RI for this specific type of change, you also need to make a parallel change in RI's My Rotary - that is, change the Member Type from Active to Honorary. This will keep your RI records up to date for billing purposes.
This is one of the very few changes (if not the only one) that need to be made in RI as well as in ClubRunner. As all club secretaries know, all other changes (new members, terminated members or updated member information) need (and should) only be made in CR.
